Leader BioTech

Cancer treatment

Leader BioTech created a new technology for isolating rare cancer cells, developed at Emory, allowing its team to study the cells in novel ways. The company’s results pointed toward alexidine dihydrochloride as a heretofore unused method of treatment. They have created analogs for the parent molecule, and one of these, AX-7, has shown remarkable efficacy in combating lung cancer in mice.

The next phase of Leader BioTech’s work will involve tests to isolate and identify the mechanism in AX-7 that enables it to disrupt the metabolism of cancer cells. The diagnostic platform that led to the discovery of AX-7 and the alexidine itself possess the potential for broader application at the leading edge of cancer treatment.
