The Georgia Tech-launched startup microSTAR Biotech develops tiny particles that can be mixed with therapeutic creams to enhance their effectiveness.

This mixture can be applied to the skin like any topical treatment. But the microscopic spikes on STAR particles painlessly puncture the top layers of skin to make it more permeable and allow the drugs in the cream to enter more easily. Because the punctures are so small, they don’t cause pain or irritation.

MicroSTAR Biotech's start particle-enhanced mixture is as simple to apply as any conventional topical treatment, making it easy for patients to experience the benefits.
