Georgia Genomics & Bioinformatics Core

University of Georgia All "Omics"

The Georgia Genomics and Bioinformatics Core (GGBC) is the University of Georgia (UGA) core laboratory for nucleic acid sequencing and bioinformatics.

The GGBC mission includes research support, education, and training. Our services are available to university and industry researchers. Our services encompass a range of genomic techniques and applications, sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics analyses.

GGBC operates multiple state-of-the-art tools and platforms for short-, long-, and single-molecule sequencing reads (i.e., Illumina MiSeq and NextSeq, PacBio Sequel II, Oxford Nanopore MinIon, and ABI 3730xl). These technologies allow GGBC to support a wide array of experimental approaches including whole transcriptome sequencing, small RNA sequencing, RNA sequencing, targeted amplicon sequencing, SNP detection, and whole-genome shotgun sequencing.

Furthermore, high-throughput single-cell gene expression and linked-read whole genome sequencing are enabled by the 10X Genomics Chromium System.  Many ancillary instruments are available such as the Covaris E220 Evolution, Agilent BioAnalyzer 2100, Fragment Analyzer Automated CE system, SageELF, Roche Lightcycler 480 RT-PCR, Qubit, NanoDrop, thermocyclers, and epMotion 5070/5075 liquid handling stations.

The GGBC provides a variety of computational and bioinformatics services to support research activities using open-source and custom-built software for data processing, data analysis and visualization of a wide range of NGS datasets. Customers benefit from the expertise of the GGBC Faculty and staff for free project consultation and project management. More information about GGBC can be found on our website.

Notes

The GGBC offers a diverse portfolio of Next-Generation Sequencing instruments and tools to support researchers.

Consultation on projects is available to researchers, with experts from the GGBC, to determine the best approach for their specific needs and budget.
